In Construction: Cronulla Rooftop Penthouse Project

April 24, 2014 Comments Off

Impressions Landscape – Design was approached to design two opposing penthouse gardens in Cronulla just under two years ago. The briefs were tailored to each clients individual tastes and much care and precision was taken to ensure adequate designing for this tough coastal position.

The penthouse apartments look over Gunnamatta Bay and cop the full brunt of the harsh salt laden southerly busters. A huge construction challenge. The apartments have been lined with scaffolding for around a year and a half now. All materials and waste have had to be craned off and on the roof tops. With approximately 14 tonne removed off each at commencement and another 20 tonne for each imported back to complete the construction. As the apartments are existing construction, much care and consultation has taken place regarding structural engineering and also careful consideration to waterproofing methods as these gardens act as the entry point to any possible water leakage issues.

A highly complex project. The gardens are currently in full construction mode and are set for completion in the coming months. Adam McDonald had a look over the gardens construction recently. Here is one of the two gardens in full swing.
We will be sure to update the images as the construction draws to a close, are cleaned up and softened with some greenery and furniture!!
