Established in 2003, by directors Adam McDonald and Adam Tanko. Impressions Landscape – Design has today become a leading residential landscape design company. We are a complete and vastly comprehensive landscaping services provider, exploring unique and adventurous design aesthetics for esteemed residential gardens. We manage projects from inception to completion and further on from here.
We regard the design of outdoor spaces as both functional and artistic expressions where both elements rely equally on one another. We design for an outdoor lifestyle and enjoy turning challenges into beautiful defining landscaping interpretations.
Our approach carefully honours individual personalities, client requirements and design preferences. With the interest of our clients foremost at our thoughts. We don’t prescribe to social media trends and refuse to adopt popular cookie-cutter design formulas. Each client, each briefing, each property is unique and so are our designs. We love to be creative and to explore.

DIRECTOR
Creative Director and Principal Landscape Designer at IL-D Adam McDonald is responsible for the creative direction of the company. Adam is a nationally recognised landscape designer and has been awarded at the highest level consistently throughout his career for his designs. Adam has become renowned for his creative and individualised use of planting and horticulture within his landscape designs. He is focussed on optimised garden designs that resolve problems and promote multi-layered settings that connect people to their spaces both technically and artistically. He has a unique sensibility for the clever harmonising of both built and planted forms. He is energetic and passionate about the true art of garden making. His philosophy for IL-D’s designs is concentrated around a modern vision of a timeless garden appeal that has a distinguishable life-filled quality that invokes an engaging and emotive connection with the space and its beauty.
ADAM TANKO
DIRECTOR
Director and responsible for company logistics and general operations management. Adam Tanko has a great understanding and appreciation of function forming design and leads the technical resolution of IL-D projects and procedures. A qualified Designer, Landscaper, Builder and Pool Builder he shares his in-depth, comprehensive knowledge and pragmatic thinking to help translate and transfer beautiful concepts into realities. His lateral, practical thinking and general operations management is an asset and contributes to the success of each and every project and ensures the cogs in the wheel keep turning over every day for Impressions.
Adam brings beautiful pool constructions to our bespoke pool and garden projects through the help of Impressions Pools.
MICHAEL MCAFEE
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Michael is chief of construction; he has become an integral part of the delivery team over several years in which he has been a part of the IL-D team. With the knowledge attained over his vast 19 years of construction experience building gardens over the UK and Australia. He thoroughly understands the core values of IL-D’s construction processes and high level of project delivery required to ensure design objectives are met. Michael is passionate about and meticulous in building beautifully designed projects to the upmost level and to the satisfaction of both IL-D’s designers and clients. Michael really enjoys building relationships with clients over the duration of projects and admits getting great feedback from the client about the work that is performed and the space that has been created brings him extreme satisfaction. Michael has a Certificate III in Structural Landscaping, Certificate IV in Building & Construction and holds a current Nominated Supervisors Certificate.
Jo Starling
ACCOUNTS MANAGER
With a professional background in marketing and a great understanding of customer relations. Jo is responsible for IL-D’s Accounts department. Jo manages our office administration and is point of call for accounts payable and receivable, she also assists with HR. Jo is the friendly happy voice that deals with the nitty gritty money stuff.

After an illustrious career as a graphic designer Stacy was tempted to Impressions to make use of her marketing skills, public relations strengths and technical and resourceful problem-solving skills. A behind the scenes hero. Stacy is responsible for business development processes with a key focus on marketing and branding development.
